  • My Story

Hi.. I am Chitra Kulkarni.

I am thrilled that you have found my website. I assure you that you are going to love my no-nonsense, keep-it-simple approach to nutrition, health and life.

I guide my clients on proper nutritional intake for young kids, growing teenagers, office going adults, home makers and even older people. I suggest changes that you can make in your kitchen towards becoming a healthy family.

Why worry about weight gain when we get into a sedentary lifestyle at the age of 25 or above, why not eat healthy and eat right from the very beginning as a kid?

I do not suggest drastic changes, nor do I suggest extreme diet regime that you would hate following in the long run

Who am I?

Every once in a while we decide to start eating healthy and then give away into temptations. Deciding to shift to a healthy lifestyle after every visit to doctor, that you forgot about the very next day?

The promises you made to yourself to wake up early next morning for a rigorous work out but ended up muting the alarm in the morning?

I too was here!

Mission

To create awareness amongst people about Food and Nutrition such that Medicine is replaced by Food and they lead a very healthy and happy life.

Vision

A world where all people thrive to become happy through the transformative power of Food and Nutrition.

Personal Story.

My journey of 'Fat to Fit' began after my 2nd delivery. At the age of 38 years I got pregnant with my second baby, this is when I gained a significant amount of weight. Along with other complications I was also diagnosed with gestation diabetes which added to more health issues. Let's not even talk about the weight gain, it was tremendous. Soon enough my intake of medicines were more than the amount of food I had. Then came the last nail in the coffin, it was the third time my clothes refused to fit me, these were the ones I had newly bought about two months ago, because the ones I had bought before weren't fitting me again. I realised I was steadily gaining weight every two months.

I realised it was time I took control of my life and I did what all of us usually do, I joined a Gym. The regular work out sessions did help me losing some pounds however I lacked energy, strength and enthusiasm. Though I wanted to lose weight, I was unable to see a decent result. With zero zeal and excitement, I regained the lost weight over a period of few months. It was a vicious cycle that I had landed into.

Luckily, I chanced upon a local fitness group that one of my friend casually introduced me to. Here I learnt that only working out or gym sessions are just not sufficient. One must take proper nutrition to remain fit and healthy. Good quality and quantity of food helps us retain our energy and boosts the development of our strength and stamina. I was suggested to follow the 70/30 rule. In any weight loss program right diet plays a 70% role while exercise plays its 30% role.

Next came the big question, which diet to follow? There are so many different approaches that we bump into if we start researching on Google. In a quest of seeking some technical and scientific knowledge I enrolled into a nutrition course from a reputed institute in Pune. This course was as interesting to me as Harry potter series is to my 10 year old daughter( she can read it all night and day, even on the pot if I permit her). So I completed my nutrition certification, with my undivided attention. It dawned upon me, clearly only a calculative approach on the quantity, quality of nutrients and various vitamins & minerals constitute in helping us achieve a healthy and well maintained body that can sustain for long. With the knowledge that I had acquired I decided to first implement it on myself. The result was visible not only in my physical features ( I lost a good 15% fat and have been maintaining the same) but was also able to improve my strength. I now run 21 KM with ease and this has happened in just a span of one year. I also took part in various marathons and even won a 2nd runners up and trainer's award recently.

I immediately modified eating patterns of my family members including my kids and that has ensured that we have hardly had any visits to any doctors, even the kids. I firmly believe that food is the best medicine that can keep you away from all diseases as well help you achieve many of your physical goals. This is exactly the reason that my family and I are leading a very healthy and happy life.

I realized that with this knowledge that worked wonders in my life, I could help many others who have gone through similar situations like mine to overcome their health and weight issues. And with today's fast paced lifestyle, diseases along with many other health issues are growing in great numbers. . I found that it was the need of the hour to bring about awareness of food being the best source to keep us away from sickness and diseases. .

Not only will this awareness help people to overcome their weight and other health issues but also regulate good food habits and lifestyle amongst kids and youngsters.

I also noticed very few are aware of the 70/30 rule that has helped me achieve my goal. People spend innumerable hours in the gym and do 'n' number of activities but are dismayed when the weighing scale doesn't move. You can exercise like an athlete, but if your diet is poor you simply won't shed a pound. The 70% of weight loss is due to making fundamental dietary changes and 30% comes from Exercise. Diet is absolutely vital and is the real key to shedding fat.

Hence here I am, happy to share my knowledge and experience with all those who seek and need help.

Last but not the least, discipline and a realistic goal will help you go a long way.
